As an artist, I am driven by the beauty and significance of flowers—both as meaningful symbols and as vital elements in our ecosystem. My work focuses on large-scale public art installations composed of meticulously crafted paper flowers. These installations are not just artistic expressions; they are reflections of my deep love for flowers.

I like to think that my connection to flowers comes from my CHamoru heritage, the culture of the indigenous people of Guam. The CHamoru culture, rich in traditions and reverence for the natural world, profoundly inspires my creations. In my art, I strive to honor the balance between humanity and nature, drawing parallels between the fragility of paper and the delicate yet enduring spirit of flowers. Around the world, flowers are used in a variety of ways to honor individuals. They are gifted as a sign of love. They are presented to the prima ballerina after a standing ovation performance to honor her artistry. They are a way for someone to show condolences at a loved one’s funeral. Flowers have meaning. Through my installations, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder, joy, and appreciation.

Flowers have an innate ability to bring people together, creating moments of beauty and connection. My goal is to transform public spaces into places of reflection and celebration, where my art can inspire a deeper dialogue about our cultural roots and our responsibility to preserve the natural world.

Each piece I create is an invitation to pause, admire, and reconnect—with nature, with community, and with ourselves.
