Kelley Batson-Howard was born and raised in Anniston, Alabama and was transplanted to the Central Florida area in 1988. She is a life taught artist who spent most of her adult days in the family commercial greenhouse business. In 2017, life presented the opportunity to pursue her dream of being an artist. The explosion of art from her soul since often reflects back to time spent boating in her 20’s and 30’s and most recently, she is painting with heavy textures and layers of color, many with metallic rubs. She paints intuitively with brilliant colors using mark making that leaves textures on the canvas. It is her effort to share her abstract vision of the majesty of God.
In her short years of creating, Kelley has found success showing her artwork through group shows in the Central Florida area where she has earned awards and has been the beneficiary of several solo exhibits in Lake County, specifically. Her work has also been included in internationally juried online exhibits via Fusion Art and Camelback Art Gallery where she has won awards and recognition. Her work has been shared on the cover of
The American Journal of Critical Care twice and
she has also created a public art piece included in the private collection of an Orlando hospital through Ronald McDonald House.
She is a member of FLWAA (Florida Women’s Arts Association) and an exhibiting member of Beaux Arts of Central Florida. She is represented by Art Spotlight Gallery in Ormond Beach and has work also included at Sea Dreams by Sara in Ormond. She’s a member of Marion Cultural Alliance and has work represented in the gift shop at The Brick in Ocala. She currently keeps a private studio in Eustis, FL. and her work can be seen there by appointment.
